About Nicholas
I’m a lawyer who grew up around agriculture and built my career helping farmers and rural families make sense of complicated legal issues. I was born in South Carolina, spent years living and working in North Carolina, and have now made my way back to Georgia — and I’ve never hesitated to get in the truck and drive to meet clients wherever they are when they need me. Along the way, I earned my law degree from the University of Georgia, along with a masters in agricultural and applied economics and a bachelors degree in agribusiness, because I wanted to understand not just the law, but how farms and rural businesses really work day to day.
Over the years, I’ve worked side-by-side with farm families and small business owners across the Southeast, helping with things like estate and succession planning, setting up LLCs, land and property questions, and tax issues. Whether it’s planning for the next generation or dealing with a problem that just came up, my focus has always been on practical answers that folks can actually use.
Today, my practice is built around one simple idea: clear advice, straight talk, and solutions that fit your life. I take the time to listen, explain things in plain English, and help you move forward with confidence — so you can spend less time worrying about legal problems and more time doing what you do best.
Frequently Asked Questions:
About My Firm
Q: Where are you licensed to practice law?
A: I am licensed to practice law in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. My firm is also registered to do business in each of those states with the respective Secretaries of State, so clients can be confident they are working with a firm that is fully authorized to serve them across state lines.
Q: Do you work with clients in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina?
A: Yes. I have clients in all three states. My work has taken me from the southernmost parts of Georgia, to the Upstate of South Carolina, and from the mountains of Western North Carolina to the Atlantic coast. I also routinely travel to and from Atlanta, Raleigh, and Columbia, so I can handle matters anywhere in the region.
I know that even neighboring small towns can have their own traditions, values, and ways of doing things. I have chosen to serve a broader area so that families and landowners across the Southeast can access experienced legal counsel, regardless of where they live. Many rural communities are losing local services, and I want to make sure families in those areas still have someone they can rely on for practical, trustworthy guidance.
Q: Will you travel to meet me at my farm, home, or business?
A: Yes. Many of my clients live and work in rural areas where getting to a law office is not always easy. I am more than happy to handle initial meetings by phone, FaceTime, Zoom, or similar video calls. When it makes sense, I also travel to meet clients in person.
If it would be easier for me to come to your farm, home, or business, I am glad to do so.
Q: Why do you focus on farm families and rural landowners?
A: I grew up around rural communities and have spent much of my career working with farm families and landowners. Planning for land and family succession is important work, and it deserves careful attention and practical advice.
My goal is to help families protect what they have built and pass it on with clarity.
Q: What makes your firm different from a larger law firm?
A: When you hire my firm, you work directly with me. I take the time to understand your situation and your goals, and I handle your matter personally from start to finish.
You can expect straightforward guidance, steady communication, and a lawyer who takes your work seriously.
Q: Where else can I find answers to common questions?
A: I also provide a lot of practical answers on my social media channels, where I cover topics like farm succession planning, estate planning basics, LLCs and business entities, and rural land issues. Each of my website’s pages also has its own FAQ section tailored to that topic.
These resources are a good way to get quick insights or see examples of the types of issues I handle for clients. I hope this information helps instill trust and gives clients a clear understanding of the value and guidance I can bring to their situations.
